A year after Guamcell was formed, SAIPANCELL COMMUNICATIONS was formed on Saipan in 1992. Today, both companies have grown to a total of almost 200 employees. A wholly-owned subsidiary of telecom giant, NTT Docomo, it was acquired in December 2006 together with Guamcell Communications and Hafatel ( Guam ). This enabled SAIPANCELL to share NTT Docomo’s world-leading technology with the region.
Indonesia
PT EXCELCOMINDO PRATAMA Tbk. or XL was established on October 1989 though it only started commercial operations of it’s GSM mobile communications services in October 1996 . Since then XL has expanded into ISP&VOIP businesses and in 2006 launched its 3G services. XL has won serveral awards as it continues to serve more than 22 million customers.
